Tabitha has been a patriot and community servant her whole life. A homeschool graduate and 4-H alumna, she has a strong community service background: from cleaning up the cemetery est. by Junius Groves with her 4-H club, to sewing dozens of quilts for her church's NICU ministry, to sending 100s of discarded KCK Library children's books in Spanish to Juarez, Mexico, Tabitha thrives on listening to and meeting people's needs. A former Shawnee Library teen volunteer and an active college student, Tabitha will graduate from JCCC with honors in December. Tabitha loves researching, listening to people discuss issues, and is eager to be part of creative solutions for her fellow Kansans.
Born in Olathe, Tabitha grew up in Muncie and has been part of the body of Christ in the same church in KCK for more than 15 years. She showed 4-H projects in the WyCo Fair for many years, served as Club Parliamentarian & treasurer for the County 4-H council, and was speaker at the National 4-H Agriscience Summit twice, presenting her research on solving urban Food Deserts. She has also enjoyed presenting in public schools and speaking in several settings on how ChatGPT and AI tools can be used in classrooms, more on that here: ( https://midwesthomeschoolers.org/ai-homeschool-chatgpt/ )
Being informed about her state and country has always been important to Tabitha. She was named Outstanding Spokesperson for Freedom by the VFW Post 6401 in recognition of excellence in the VFW’s Constitution audio essay competition in '22. Tabitha has visited the Capitol in Topeka several times to learn about the special history of Kansas and to encourage those already serving in office. Her family holds an annual Independence Day celebration where she reads the Declaration of Independence out loud. She deeply appreciates the U.S. Constitution.
As a community servant, Tabitha has sewed and donated 12+ NICU quilts per year to Advent Health for prematurely born babies as a part of her church’s Precious Hope ministry. Her drive to serve others and her love of reading led her to send 200+ books to Juarez, Mexico to start two children’s libraries.
In addition to her international projects, Tabitha has been especially passionate about serving WyCo. Her community project, called Fight the Food Desert Teens fight food deserts as Urban Chicken Whisperers - Greenability (greenabilitymagazine.com) , brought her all the way to D.C. to speak at the '20 and '21 4-H National Youth Summits on Agriscience. Her outreach to the urban population in WyCo included exhibits at two KCK public libraries and the Providence YMCA.
Tabitha was ready to act and serve her community when she learned that the incumbent was running unopposed in the '24 election.
